Things you should know about Trailer ABS
If you are looking for a traler with ABS for sale, then this is the 100% right place for you.
DTG Group Trailer is different types semi trailer factory, ABS trailer is one of our product. It’s also okay if you don’t want ABS on trailer.
The key parts of a semi trailer: (ABS) Anti-lock braking system is an electronic safety system that controls & monitors wheel speed when brakes are applied. It is also known as an anti-skid braking system in the world.
ABS system functions is an anti-skid braking system that prevents the wheels from locking up when you force your heavy-duty trailer to stop. This automated brake controller applies pressure to the braking system of abs light on semitrailer, when you press on the foot pedal. ABS ensures that wheels maintain their contact with the ground when the driver applies the braking system.
The safety system also prevents uncontrolled wheel skidding and lock-up.
Some trailer ABS functions include below:
-
Electronic stability control (ESC)
-
Emergency brake assist
-
Traction control
-
Brakeforce distribution
-
Steer control integration
The Trailer ABS is particularly important for controlling tires speed on slippery & loose gravel surfaces. Most drivers tend to lose control of heavy trailers on such surfaces. The wabco trailer abs blink codes consists of four wheel speed sensors, an electronic control unit & two hydraulic valves.
Trailer ABS also greatly improves tire wear, whenever the semi trailer is operated empty or with a lighter than capacity load.
In most situation, the deceleration is faster than the standard deceleration speed of a truck trailer, especially when the semi trailer has no safety system. It takes less than a second for the tires to stop spinning after it (ABS) locks up.
How the Truck Trailer ABS works?
1, The truck trailer wheel ABS sensors detect when a wheel is about to lock after applying brakes. A wheel could be rotating at a lower speed than the other wheels.
2, When power is supplied to the trailer ABS unit, by the ignition switch being turned on (for ABS required power units) or by applying the brake pedal (for non-ABS required units), the abs light on semi trailer momentarily turns on to indicate the ABS is working.
3, When the braking force is reduced, the rotation speed of the wheel increases until it rotates at the same speed as other wheels.
During this time a self-test of the ABS is automatically conducted. When an truck ABS system malfunction is detected during this test, the lamp stays on; otherwise, the abs light on semi truck turns off after a few seconds. If the light (kenworth trailer abs light too) does not come on during the self-test, there could be a problem with the truck trailer wiring, the lamp bulb, or the bypass abs sensor controller.
When the controller in the Trailer ABS system is functioning well, it corrects any possible lock up even before the affected wheel can change its rotation speed substantially.
If the tires has started decelerating at a faster rate than the truck trailer, the controller reduces the tires’s speed so fast that the tires & truck trailer decelerate at the same speed within seconds.
Verify Your ABS is Working.
If your truck trailer or combination includes any units that were required to be anti-lock brake system (ABS) equipped at the time of manufacture, those unit(s) must have a functioning trailer abs light stays on that turns on, then off when power is supplied to the unit. If ABS lamps do not illuminate at all, you likely have a violation. If ABS light on semi trailer illuminate & stay on, you also have a violation. Check our field references to see if your requires a functioning semi trailer wiring diagram with ABS.
If you need ABS system, then you can ask our factory assembly it when you place trailer order.
If you don’t want & want saving cost, then we do not assembly trailer ABS for you.
If you want add ABS system, you only need add around 250USD ~ 350USD per unit trailer.
Your country might not using ABS, but we highly suggestion you assembly trailer with ABS, it’s not expensive, but it is very helpful to safe.
